"People say, 'oh, I didn't realize Latinos served in Vietnam, because it hasn't been part of their experience," says Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez, director of the Voces Oral History Project. The project began by collecting the stories of Latino veterans who served in World War II, but has expanded to veterans of other conflicts. Her hope? For the Latino history to become part of American history.
